Framing Guide

Framing tips for your painting or print

Excited about your new Original painting or Limited Edition Print?  That "just-bought-art" joy is the best.

Now, let's talk framing.

Don’t let the choices (or the thought of the price!) dim that sparkle. Framing is all part of the wonderful process of making this artwork truly yours and ready to be loved in your home.

Framing Original Painting

When you're ready to make your Original painting shine on your wall, popping into your local framer is a wonderful next step. You have invested in something truly unique and irreplaceable, and they are the pros at finding the perfect way to showcase your new treasure.

A professional framer will be your friendly guide through all the lovely choices – colours, materials, and finishes – to create a frame that sings with your artwork and feels just right in your space. The goal? A piece that looks incredible and feels 100% you.

Framing Limited Edition Prints

Just a little note: all my Limited Edition Prints arrive with a crisp white border around the artwork. This isn't just for looks; it gives the image a little breathing room and, importantly, a spot for my signature!

For prints, you’ve got some lovely, flexible options:

  1. Ready-Made & Gorgeous: Don't underestimate pre-made frames! Shops like IKEA, Jysk, or your favourite department store often have fantastic options that can work beautifully and be kind to your budget. This is a great way to get your art up on the wall quickly and stylishly.

  2. Custom & Cherished: Of course, custom framing is always a wonderful choice if you’re dreaming of something extra special, want to perfectly match your print to your interior, or create a real heirloom piece.

Choosing Your Frame: A Little Guidance

Feeling a bit lost in a sea of choices? No worries! Here’s a quick, friendly guide to help you pick materials and styles that will make your artwork (and your space!) sing:

  1. Frame Materials – What’s Your Vibe?

  • Wood: Natural finishes are versatile, while painted frames (classic black or white, or even a pop of bold colour) can make a real statement.

  • Metal: Think sleek, modern, and minimalist. Perfect for giving contemporary spaces that cool, gallery feel.

  • Acrylic: Light, bright, and durable! A fantastic choice for a more casual, modern look, and often a bit friendlier on the pocket.

  1. Frame Colours – Play it Safe or Go Bold?

Neutral tones like black, white, or natural wood are timeless classics – you really can't go wrong.

Feeling adventurous? A bold, contrasting colour can be an amazing way to make your artwork pop!

  1. Glazing: Glass or Acrylic?

The glazing is the protective shield over your artwork, keeping it safe from dust        and wear over time. Here are your two main pals:

  • Glass: The traditional choice. It’s beautifully clear and scratch-resistant, but it can be heavier and, well, more breakable.

  • Acrylic (Plexiglass): Great for larger pieces. It’s lightweight, much more shatter-resistant, and often comes with UV protection to help reduce fading. Plus, it’s generally the more affordable option.

  1. Hanging Your Artwork: The Grand Finale

You’ve got your beautifully framed artwork – yay! Now get it on the wall so you can admire it every day.

  • Eye Level is Key: Aim to hang your art so the centre of it is about 57–60 inches (145–152 cm) from the floor. This is roughly average eye level, making it super comfy to look at.

  • Creating a Gallery Wall? Keep the spacing between your frames fairly even – around 2–4 inches (5–10 cm) usually looks best and gives each piece its moment.

  • Safety First! If you are drilling into walls, please check for hidden electrical wires. When in doubt, it is always best to ask an electrician for a little help.

Hope this helps! And I would be so happy if you could send me pictures of my Originals and/or Prints in your home: ninashesta@gmail.com

About my art

What is your technique and what paints do you use?

I paint with acrylics and oil colours on cotton canvas. I also use oil sticks, pastel, and aerosol on canvas.

Do I get Originals or Prints framed?

No. All original paintings and Limited edition prints are unframed. I am aware that many buyers appreciate ready-to-hang art, but my original paintings are big and the cost would be unreasonably high. When you get my art, you have complete freedom to adjust it to your aesthetics.

Any tips for buying art prints for the first time?

Buying art is a personal journey . Here are a few tips to help you along the way:

  • Go with your gut – Choose a piece that stirs something in you. Art is meant to move you, not just match the curtains.🤭
  • Think about the space – Imagine where the piece will live. Will it brighten your hallway? Anchor a cozy corner? Reflect your style? Let your home help guide you.
  • New to collecting? Start small – A limited-edition print or a smaller original is a beautiful first step into the world of art collecting.
  • There’s no wrong choice – If it makes you feel something, it’s the right piece. Trust yourself.
Do you work on commission?

No, I do not. If you have any specific inquiry, feel free to contact me: ninashesta@gmail.com

Shipping

When will my order be shipped?

To make my life easier (mom life 🤭), I carefully package all originals at the end of each week. This means your order may take a few extra days to ship, depending on when it was placed. Thank you for your patience and for supporting a more sustainable approach and mom’s life!

How do you send your limited edition prints?

To make your buying experience even better, I partnered with XY, and they sent all my posters rolled in cylinder cartons. Each limited edition print is hand-signed and numbered, unframed, carefully rolled, and lovingly packaged in a sturdy cardboard postal tube to keep it safe on its journey to you.

What countries do you ship your original paintings to?

I ship my Originals to all countries worldwide. Shipping is free. See more details on the Shipping & Returns page.

Can I track my shipment?

Of course, tracking is provided for all shipments.

Products

Can I purchase your limited edition prints somewhere else?

This is the only place where I sell my art prints.

What paper do you use for your art prints? I would like to know more about overall printing quality.

I love my paintings so much that I could never do low quality limited edition prints of my originals. That is why I decided to invest in working with one of the best  quality art & photo printing services in the world.

So, when you buy your limited edition print, it will be printed on Hahnemüle German Etching, a robust Giclée paper.

Giclée paper is a special paper used for creating high-quality artistic prints. Imagine you want to make a copy of your favorite painting so that it looks exactly like the original, with the same colors and details – that's where giclée paper comes in. This paper is different from regular paper because:

  • It is acid-free and chlorine-free, which means it won't yellow or deteriorate over time
  •  It is durable and long-lasting
  • It has a special surface that helps the printer produce vibrant and accurate colors, just like the original

And Hahnemüle German Etching paper is one of heavier-weight Giclée art papers:

  • Heavyweight paper (310 gsm), pretty robust and less prone to fraying at the edges
  • The weight and texture give the artwork a handmade, crafted feel
  •  It has a slightly warm base tone and a strong, mottled texture
  • Produces prints with rich, vibrant colours and deep blacks for high contrast and a bold look
  • The textured surface holds more ink and captures light beautifully, enhancing visual depth
Which platform do you use for print service?

Your limited edition print is made with care by My Print Space - a studio artists and photographers love for their beautiful, gallery-quality prints.
